Spear Vineyard

Spear Vineyards, planted in 2014 along the Highway 246 corridor and within the interior of the Sta. Rita Hills AVA, stand out as a symbol of excellence. These are amongst the highest elevation plantings in the famed appellation. Peaking at 900’ above sea level, the vineyards stretch across 34 acres of land, proudly representing six different grape varietals.
What sets Spear Vineyards apart is their commitment to sustainability. With a CCOF certified organic farming approach, these vineyards prioritize the wellbeing of the land and its inhabitants. By nourishing the soils and enriching the diversity and vitality of microorganisms, Spear Vineyards improve both vine health and vineyard expression.
The vineyard's dedication to sustainable viticultural practices is evident through their conscious decision to abstain from using inorganic fertilizers, pesticides or herbicides. By forgoing these harmful substances, Spear Vineyards ensure that their wines offer a pure and authentic experience.
Not only does Spear Vineyards boast remarkable clonal, rootstock, orientation, elevation, and soil combinations, but they also embody the spirit of innovation and stewardship. With meticulous attention to detail and a harmonious collaboration between nature and the winemaking team, Spear Vineyards creates wines that truly reflect the unique terroir of the region.

Bassi Vineyard

Bassi Vineyard is farmed organically with biodynamic inputs. These practices are observed, first and foremost, because they help make better wine. No stone is unturned in that pursuit. What is great for the wine is also good for the land and the surrounding environment, so the rewards are ample for keeping everything in balance. No certification has been pursued. All recent plantings have been own rooted.

A beautiful sight sitting about a mile from the Pacific, a pleasure to work with Mike Sinor who farms it, lucky to get fruit from this vineyard.
